Connect Salesforce to Aithon
One organization-wide, read-only connection that brings your accounts, opportunities, contacts and activity into Aithon and mirrors your Salesforce sharing rules.
Last updated
Aithon reads your Salesforce data through a managed connector, and never writes anything back. One connection covers your whole organization. Once it is in place, your accounts, opportunities, contacts and sales activity appear in Aithon, and every person sees in Aithon exactly what they are allowed to see in Salesforce.
Prerequisites
- A Salesforce user with API access and read permission on the objects listed below. The setup screen lists what is needed; a system administrator is the usual choice.
- An active Aithon account. The connection is shared by everyone in your organization, so it is best made by whoever administers Salesforce.
Step 1: Open Integrations
Open the menu under your name at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose Integrations.
Step 2: Connect Salesforce
Find Salesforce in the list and click Connect. You are taken to a hosted setup page for the connector.
Step 3: Sign in to Salesforce
On the setup page, choose whether you are connecting a production or a sandbox org, sign in to Salesforce, and approve the read access requested. When the setup completes you are returned to Aithon, where the Salesforce card shows Connected.
What gets synced
The connector reads these Salesforce objects: Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity, Opportunity Contact Role, Account Contact Role, Opportunity Stage, Campaign, Campaign Member, Task, Event, Email Message, User, User Role, Group, Group Member, Account Share, Opportunity Share, Permission Set, Permission Set Assignment, Object Permissions and Organization.
The sharing and permission objects at the end of that list exist so that Aithon mirrors your Salesforce sharing rules: each person sees in Aithon what they already see in Salesforce.
Nothing is written to Salesforce. The integration is read-only end to end.
What makes the data useful
- A website or domain on each account is the single highest-value field. Aithon uses it to attach external context (news, hiring, technology, filings) to the account; an account with no usable website receives none.
- Closed deal history matters: the more of it Aithon can read, the better its benchmarks by segment and product line.
- Logged activity on accounts and deals gives Aithon the engagement picture behind them.
Custom fields are not pulled in bulk. If there are custom opportunity fields you want Aithon to use, talk to your Aithon contact.
How long it takes
The first sync loads history and can take a few hours for a large org. After that, new and changed records typically appear in Aithon within a few hours, not minutes.
Disconnecting
On the Integrations page, click Manage on the Salesforce card, then Disconnect. This removes the connection for your entire organization. Ask your Aithon contact if you also want previously synced records removed.
Larger deployments
Organizations with data warehouses or strict change control sometimes prefer to provide Aithon a curated feed rather than a direct connector. Talk to your Aithon contact about that route.
